Battle of Königgrätz

PSE

The maneuver terrain in Bohemia comprised the field of operations of the Austrian and Prus- sian armies in the campaign of 1866. And I heard it cautiously intimated by an officer of some distinction, that the crushing defeat of the Aus- trian army at the Battle of Sadowa was largely due to information disclosing the strategic moves of the Austrian Commander Count Clam-Gallas, incidentally mentioned in a letter of his wife to her married sister in Berlin, by whom the im- portant information was given to her husband, and by the latter imparted to Bismarck and Moltke.
